In the Spring of 2017, Springtree Restoration decided to open up a new location in Gainesville, TX — the hometown city that AJ Huckaby, our president, proudly grew up in! It only made sense for us to take one of the most iconic old buildings in the city and remodel it for our Gainesville roofing company headquarters.
The City of Gainesville, TX
Gainesville rests just south of the Red River in the Texoma region and is known as the Star of North Texas. This community of about 16,000 residents is the county seat of Cooke County. Its many schools, parks, and activities make it an attractive destination for visitors and an idyllic setting for raising a family.
Unfortunately for Gainesville homeowners, this region of Texas rests at the tail end of the volatile section of the US known as Tornado Alley.
Storm-Damaged Roofs in Gainesville
Driving rain, high winds and hailstones can leave a roof severely damaged. In Texas, tornado season lasts from mid-March through June, but thunderstorms can strike at any time. Reports have shown that Gainesville has had major hail reports almost every year since 2007, and that the largest hailstones reported in 2019 were 1.75” in diameter. That’s roughly the size of a golf ball, and plenty big enough to batter a roof.
Even years of exposure to the sun can weaken roofing surfaces and leave them looking ramshackle and faded. The hot Texas sun is hard on shingles, especially in the summertime, and our notoriously rainy springtime months can cause warping, peeling, and curling around the edges. It is important to get this damage repaired right away before the roof gives way and allows water to seep into the lower structures.
